Brest, France

Brest was a major Atlantic port during World War II, used as a key base for naval operations. Its deep harbor and strong coastal defenses made it important for controlling sea routes and launching missions into the Atlantic. The city became heavily fortified and later saw intense fighting, leaving much of it destroyed before it was eventually captured near the end of the war.
