Beijing Capital International Airport (北京首都国际机场) (IATA: PEK,ICAO: ZBAA) is an important air gateway and foreign exchange window in China. On March 1, 1958, the Capital Airport was opened to navigation. On January 1, 1980, Terminal T1 and the second runway were opened, and the airport was renamed "Beijing Capital International Airport". On November 1, 1999, the T2 terminal was officially put into operation. On February 29, 2008, the T3 terminal and the third runway were opened. It is a 4F international hub airport, a member of the international air cargo hub group around the Bohai Sea, one of the three major gateway hubs in China, and also a super-large airport in the world.
