The year is 1944 and the Japanese launch Operation U (U-Go) to capture the cities necessary to threaten mainland India and launch further operations deep into the heartland. Imphal-Kohima is the name given to the road where most of the action took place as the 33rd, 31st Japanese divisions clashed with Indian troops in fierce battles causing some elements of the Indian forces to be encircled. However they did not capitulate but instead held out wave after wave of Japanese relentless fanatical attacks and managed to break out and help in the counter offensive to drive the Japanese back.
