The wreck of the RMS Titanic lies about 3,800 meters (12,500 feet) below the Atlantic Ocean, approximately 400 nautical miles (740 km) off the coast of Newfoundland, Canada. Discovered in 1985, the wreckage is split into two main sections (the Bow and the Stern) lying about 600 meters apart in a 15-square-mile debris field.
