The year is 2177, one hundred years after the Great War. Many of the great powers the Wasteland will come to know are still in their infancy, or not yet conceived of. Chicago stands as an ark, its bones serving as a shelter against the unrelenting radstorms that roll over Lake Michigan from Detroit.
