The Northwest Territories is a vast, sparsely populated federal territory in northern Canada defined by dramatic boreal forests, arctic tundra, and deep lakes. Spanning 1,346,106 square kilometers, it borders Yukon, Nunavut, and British Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan, with an estimated population of around 45,800.
