Kamphaeng Saen Air Force Base, VTBK

In 1965, the United States Air Force requested the use of the airfield in Nakhon Ratchasima Province as a tactical air base, causing significant air traffic congestion. The US government therefore approved funding to construct a flight school and air base for the Royal Thai Air Force in Kamphaeng Saen District, Nakhon Pathom Province, as an alternative to the Nakhon Ratchasima airfield. The flight school opened on December 12, 1969, and this date is considered the founding day of Kamphaeng Saen Air Base. Kamphaeng Saen Airfield was designated an authorized airfield in 1977.
