TARC-2 Circa - 2nd Era

Date (Human calendar): 3511\06\02 A planet in proximity to the Ambrosian homeworld was recently detected to have abnormally high concentrations of mutagenic substances within its atmosphere. Radar scans point to a supervolcanic eruption near a large deposit of radioactive ores. A science and research team consisting of various species was sent down to a local forest site to investigate its effects on the planet's wildlife. In case of attack, a small military presence was set up as well, with a transport ship in the outpost at all times in case of emergency evacuation should the need arise. Upon landing, the first team discovered that the life in the area had started mutating rapidly, and that a lightning storm had started which has not yet ceased, likely caused by radioactive ash friction in the atmosphere. Every month, the team is swapped out for different researchers and guards and such in order to minimize radiation exposure per individual. Team 3 just arrived.
