CFL FA System - Effective Starting 6/25/19 at 8:00pm EDT [RELEASING PLAYERS] When a team releases a player that’s been in the league for 0-2 seasons, he will go on the waiver wire for 24 hours. During that 24 hour period, teams may submit a claim for him (on the wall and they do it by offering him) and the team with highest waiver priorities (WP) will receive the player who will auto-sign with them and that team will fall to the bottom of the WP. If he’s left unclaimed after that 24-hour period, he’ll go into free agency. If a released player has been in the league for 3+ seasons, he will go directly into FA.
