The Philippine Scouts (Also known as the 26th Cavalry Regiment during the defense) unit was sacrificed in order that the remaining US troops in Bataan to retreat. After the come back of USAFFE General McArthur, the Philippine Scouts was reformed into 12th Infantry Division of Philippine Department. Note: By the time the Japanese Invaded the Philippines, the Philippine Scouts was only armed with the old rifle models such as Springfield Rifle and Krag-Jorgensen rifles.
