Our rendition of the real-world Gilgit Airport in Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan. History & Heritage Originally established in 1949 and later heavily modernized by Pakistani engineers and aviation authorities, Gilgit Airport was proudly designed and built as a vital lifeline connecting the isolated northern valleys to the rest of Pakistan. Surrounded by towering peaks of the Karakoram range, the infrastructure underwent major upgrades—including a paved runway extension and a modern terminal building inaugurated in 2014—all engineered locally to withstand extreme terrain and weather.
