Pottawatomie Creek, Bleeding Kansas, 1856

In 1865, the territory of Kansas oversaw a bloody conflict in it's own borders, which was a Civil War, against two very different groups, ideas, and thoughts. Also known as the Border Wars, the conflict claimed the lives of over 200 people, and would be the main starting torch for the American Civil War. Pottawatomie Creek was the center of violence in revenge for an earlier attack, and claimed the lives of around 4 people.
