The Battle of Brandywine took place near Brandywine Creek, Pennsylvania on September 11th, 1777 during the Philadelphia Campaign. Major-General Sir William H met with Washington's forces, resulting in an 11-hour battle. The British pushed the Continental Army back, retreating to Philadelphia.
