(WIP) (Mission boston was the 82nd, and 101st mission to capture bridges, and causeways in the Chef du Pont area of Normandy). On June 9th, just three days after the 82nd, and 101st divisions landed in Normandy, the 508th PIR was attempting to seize a bridge on the Douve river. After failing to do so, the Germans launched a counterattack on Chef du Pont, and the surrounding areas which included the famed Hill 30, which the 508th PIR retreated to after failing at Douve. For the next two days, paratroopers from both the 101st, and 82nd, held off against brutal German attacks.
