Detroit has been described by some as a ghost town. ... With at least 70K abandoned buildings, 31K empty houses, and 90K vacant lots, Detroit has become notorious for its urban blight. Is Detroit A Safe Place? Although the crime rate has decreased, Detroit is still one of the most dangerous cities in the United States of America. However, this does not mean that the whole city is dangerous. You should only avoid areas in the city that have high crime rates as some other areas are considered safe and tourist friendly. Welcome to Detroit... Mostly known as a ghost city, Be safe.
