Description (written by the developer; not a statement by this register)
[Map is currently under development - version 1.2] The Frankenstein Castle is the northernmost castle on the Bergstrasse and was built around 1230. After 1400, the castle was extended towards the north, construction which included a chapel inaugurated in 1474. This castle was of large importance to the city of Darmstadt, next to which it is located, up to the late 1800s. It is also believed to have inspired Mary Shelley when she wrote her 1818 Gothic novel "Frankenstein".
