During the Sengoku period, humans and demons alike were in a state of constant disorganized war. But after the siege of Osaka, 1615, humans fell under the rule of the Tokugawa shogunate, which started to hunt the remaining demons one by one. As their numbers decreased, they eventually fell into obscurity and became mere folklore tales and legends. The year is now 1838. Under the leadership of Kōgō-Hinode, a powerful kitsune who seemed to suddenly appear one day alongside her twin sister, the demons have been regaining their power in the shadows of society, hidden from the common folk.
