Rideau Hall

Rideau Hall is the official residence and workplace of the Governor General of Canada, located in Ottawa, Ontario. Since 1867, it has served as a centre for constitutional, diplomatic, and ceremonial activities, representing the Crown in Canada. The historic building is home to the Office of the Secretary to the Governor General and hosts official events, including state visits, honours ceremonies, credential presentations, and national celebrations. Rideau Hall is also the site where the Governor General carries out many constitutional duties, including granting royal assent, appointing officials, and receiving advice from the Prime Minister. Surrounded by extensive gardens and public grounds, Rideau Hall is recognized as an important national heritage site and a symbol of Canadian democracy, service, and tradition.
