Roman Aegyptus 🚩 ∎▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬∎ The Roman province of Egypt was established in 30 BC once Augustus defeated his adversaries Mark Antonius and the Pharaoh Cleopatra during the final war of the Roman Republic. The province came to serve as one of the major producers of grain for the empire and had a highly developed urban economy. Aegyptus was by far the wealthiest Roman province outside of Italia.
