[DoR] - The First Battle of Tomsk, USSR, 1997

It’s 1997, and after rising tensions between NATO and the USSR in the Eastern Bloc, all of a sudden Soviet State television is hijacked. It’s a message by the self-proclaimed “New Russia’s Revolutionary Army”. They declare war on the Soviet government. 5 minutes after the said message, a massive sound was heard in the middle of Tomsk city center. The ground was shaking, and furniture was falling on the ground. You could hear people screaming, unsure of what it was. Some residents believed the disturbance was caused by an explosion or an earthquake After the shaking finished, all televisions got the same EAS alert “TOMSK CITY HALL HAS BEEN THE TARGET OF AN ATTACK BY THE NRRA, SEEK SHELTER” —------------------------------------------ «TОМСКАЯ МЭРИЯ СТАЛА ОБЪЕКТОМ НАПАДЕНИЯ NRRA, ИЩИТЕ УБЕЖИЩЕЕ» 53 dead. 12 injured. The city was under martial law and successfully evacuated during the following days.
