Victorville, California | 2042

It's been 20 years since the collapse of society, and for the past two decades, a faction known as the Church of Ryton has taken power within Southern California. It now lays waste to cities deemed "Hermanism," which are considered heretics of the Ryotheminism religion and culture. Now, after a decade of fighting in the city once known as L.A., the Church of Ryton has begun to progressively move out of the city and into surrounding territories, one of which is Victorville—a small trading town that refuses to submit to Ryotheminism and the Church. As a result, the Church sends in their Protectors to fight off the insurgents, and set up the outpost known as "Outpost Luper."
