美国国民警卫队（United States National Guard）简称为联邦国民兵，是美利坚武装力量的重要后备力量。 美军的预备役部队可分为国民警卫队和联邦后备役部队两大部分。美国国民警卫队创建于1636年12月13日，当时是Court将军为保卫殖民地而在波士顿建立的一支民兵队伍 [1] ，宪法并没有称呼这些民兵叫“国民警卫队”，“国民警卫队”这一名称第一次在美国出现是1824年由纽约的一个民兵部队首先使用的。在经过国内南北战争之后，“国民警卫队”这一名称成为各个州自行建立的民兵部队的流行叫法 [1] 。1903年美国颁布《民兵法案》，将各州民兵组织整合成国民警卫队。1916年《国防法》通过后 [2] ，最终把“国民警卫队”作为接受联邦军费有组织民兵部队的官方名称 [1] 。陆军国民警卫队成为占美国陆军约50%作战部队及30%后勤部队的一支重要支援力量 [2]
