The Wichita Mountains area is rich with historical and cultural significance, featuring sites like Fort Sill, the Comanche Reservation, and The Star House. Fort Sill, established in 1869, served as a key military post during the Indian Wars and remains an active military base today. The Star House, built in 1889 by Texas cattlemen, was a gift to the Comanche Chief, serving as his residence and a symbol of his leadership within the Comanche Nation.
