History of the base: The First Order, built a weapon that used an entire planet as it's foundation. the Starkiller gathered energy from it's system's star. Then converted that energy into an enormous laser beam, that's capable of destroying other star systems hence the name "Starkiller". The first shot of Starkiller Base utterly demolished the New Republic capital of Hosnian.
