The Aegean Army or 4th Army is one of the 4 armies affiliated with the Turkish Ground Forces. Its mission is to ensure the security of the coast of Western Anatolia. Its headquarters is located in Narlıdere. The Aegean Army Commander performs the task of Izmir Garrison Command in the same order. The Aegean Army or Fourth Army is one of the four main formations of the Turkish Army. It covers the entire west coast of the Anatolia peninsula and has its headquarters in Izmir. It was organized in the 1970s in response to political tensions with Greece - the ongoing Aegean dispute and the Cyprus problem.
