The Imperial-class Star Destroyer (ISD) is the chief warship of the Imperial Navy and symbol of Imperial might1. It is a versatile small warship that combines powerful sublight engines with a flexible turbolaser armament and a wing of 72 TIE craft2. The ISD was originally called the Imperator-class Star Destroyer before being renamed after the Jedi purge.
