Accursed Mountains (Albanian: Bjeshkët e Nëmuna) The Bjeshkët e Nemuna, or Accursed Mountains, is a mountain range spanning northern Albania, western Kosovo, and eastern Crna Gora. The name "Accursed Mountains" comes from local legends. Some say the mountains were “cursed” because of their harsh, impassable terrain that made life incredibly difficult for those who lived there. Others believe the name reflects the awe and fear the mountains inspired, especially in winter when snow and isolation could trap entire villages. In the early hours of a mist-covered morning, armed Serbian forces crossed through the remote high passes of the Accursed Mountains, descending silently into the isolated Albanian villages nestled deep in the valleys. The Albanian Armed Forces have been deployed to defend their sacred land.
