Second Chamber

The Second Chamber is part of the parliament. It plays an important role in drafting laws, monitoring the government, and deciding whether a cabinet has enough confidence. The Second Chamber is a High Council of State. In order to give the Second Chamber the opportunity to monitor the government, ministers are obliged to provide all information requested by the Second Chamber. Members of the Second Chamber also have the right to put questions to the ministers, and ministers can be called to account during an interpellation. A cabinet or minister cannot remain in office without having the confidence of the Chamber.
