The Khalkin Gol river has gone through many changes during the last 2 decades, trenches have been dug to prevent an external attack and rail networks have been obstructed intentionally to prevent foreign armies from crossing to Mongolia, making the Khalkin Gol river not only a natural barrier, but a fortified border ready for any attack.
