When Communist North Korean Forces crossed the 38th Parallel and invaded non-Communist South Korea, the United States, as well as many other United Nations, stepped in to defend one of the last bastions of Democracy in Asia. Sailors and soon to be Coast Guards came to these bases from all around America to prepare for life at sea and defending the nations border from blows designated to hit the homeland.
