Lubok Terua, Temerloh District [Pahang Uprising Series] [BETA] 16th December 1891 Backgrounds:- 1. BRITISH TAX POLICY New tax policy imposed by Britain on Pahang enraged local chiefs. This triggered the Pahang Uprising in 1890s. Building a police station on Lubok Terua to collect taxes (from exports of tins and golds) is an offense to authority of Orang Kaya Semantan, who had the rights to collect taxes in his region. 2. THE ATTACK A group of Policemen led by Desborough stationed in Lubok Terua, made an unlawful arrest on a group of locals, in which they fled and complained to Orang Kaya Semantan, Dato' Bahaman. A retaliation attack was made on Lubok Terua Police Station. The policemen fled, but later were ambushed in Lubok Senggarat by Dato' Bahaman and his men.
