Elmstead Training Camp, KINTA

Situated in and around the Mull Of Kintyre, Scotland, Elmstead Training Camp was first established as a small RAF Helicopter Training Area Instalment in the '90s, to familiarise pilots landing in Forward Operating Bases as well a top of mountains. In 2022, the area was granted by the MOD to be utilised by the 'First In' unit; The Pathfinder Platoon, due to rising tensions and the likelihood of an Eastern European Airborne Assault becoming greater. Kintyre Training Area provides sufficient temperate training environments; mountainous, heathland, forestry and urban areas. It is ideal for a reconnaissance specific role, and has been utilised by the Pathfinder Platoons, along with elements of No. 7 RAF SQN for the past 2 years.
