Description (written by the developer; not a statement by this register)
Wattisham Flying Station is a British Army Air Corps (AAC) military airfield located in Suffolk, England. Originally established as a Royal Air Force (RAF) base in 1939, it played an active role in World War II and the Cold War. In the 1990s, control of the base transferred to the Army Air Corps, and it is now one of the main operational bases for the AAC’s Apache attack helicopters. As the largest operational Army Air Corps base in the UK, Wattisham Flying Station is home to several regiments, including the 3 and 4 Regiment AAC, which operate the AH-64 Apache. The station is also an important training center for helicopter operations, with facilities for flight training, maintenance, and logistical support.
