Chalons Camps

🌿 Camps-De-Chalons 🌿 Created by the will of Napoleon III and inaugurated on August 30, 1857, the Châlons camp had a great importance during the Second Empire. It constitutes a hold of 10,000 hectares that were bought from 1,300 owners. The earliest mention was the Catalaunic Fields, which were located in local memory as being in Châlons and the oppidum of La Cheppe is called Camp Atila. There already existed earlier camps, one in 1792 and another in 1841; they were closer to the city and were called: camp Fagnière, camp saint-mont-Michel, camp Haut-Chaillot but especially camp Châlons.
