The Jurassic Period, part of the Mesozoic Era, lasted from approximately 201 to 145 million years ago. It was characterized by a warm climate, rising sea levels, and the dominance of dinosaurs. Lush vegetation covered much of the Earth, providing a rich environment for herbivorous dinosaurs like Diplodocus and Stegosaurus, as well as predators like Allosaurus. This period also saw the evolution of the first birds, like Archaeopteryx, and the diversification of marine reptiles and ammonites in the oceans. Plant life included conifers, cycads, and ferns, thriving in the humid conditions. The Jurassic marked significant tectonic activity, leading to the breakup of the supercontinent Pangaea into smaller landmasses.
