🌿 St. Peter’s Square is a monumental square located in front of St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City. It was designed by Gianlorenzo Bernini in the 17th century and is one of the most recognizable places in the world. The square has an elliptical shape and is surrounded by a colonnade consisting of 284 columns and 88 pilasters, topped with 140 statues of saints. At the center of the square stands an Egyptian obelisk and two large fountains. The square is a site of numerous religious ceremonies, including papal audiences and the Urbi et Orbi blessing.
