Paint and rubber are very best friends each time they hit someone, they get a combo each combo you get boosts your attack rate,damage,speed etc. the barrels are also attackable and you can get combo from them as well yes press q to switch, switching heals your character a bit paint can heal herself with her paintbrush by attacking
