For Roleplay and Pictures History Westminster Abbey is an Anglican church in the City of Westminster, London, England. It was first constructed in the 11th century by King Edward the Confessor, a Saxon king who dedicated this new church to St Peter. Since it was built, it has been the place where the coronations of Kings and Queens of England have been held. The present structure dates from 1245, when it was started by Henry III. It is the shrine of Edward the Confessor and the burial place of many kings and queens. In 1987, Westminster Abbey, St. Margaret’s Church, and the Houses of Parliament were collectively designated a UNESCO World Heritage site.
