SIEGE OF ICHINOMIYA 1585 The Battle of Ichinomiya Fields marked the climax of Hideyoshi’s invasion of Shikoku. The Chōsokabe, renowned for their unity and Motochika’s skill in diplomacy and strategy, faced overwhelming odds as Toyotomi’s fleet and army landed across the island. Despite the imbalance, Motochika refused immediate surrender, determined to defend his home province of Tosa and the strategic Ichinomiya Castle.
