In The Lost World: Jurassic Park, four years after the events on Isla Nublar, John Hammond reveals the existence of a second island, Isla Sorna, where dinosaurs were originally bred. He sends a research team, led by Dr. Ian Malcolm, to document the dinosaurs in their natural habitat. Malcolm reluctantly agrees after learning that his girlfriend, Sarah Harding, is already on the island. Their mission is soon disrupted by InGen, a corporation aiming to capture the dinosaurs and transport them to a theme park in San Diego. Chaos ensues as the dinosaurs break free, and a Tyrannosaurus rex ends up loose in the city. The team manages to return the T. rex to the island, realizing that nature should be left untouched. Isla Sorna is once again declared a protected sanctuary, remaining a wild domain for the dinosaurs.
