Fight on a Staircase in the middle of nowhere

A Company named VOID (Virtual Operative International Divisional) the Company created a portal leading to another Dimension, once it was finished they sent their Troops. Known as STTD (Smart Thinking Trained Division) the Troops would go one, by one into the Portal. Those Troops would be you. The Portal Failed, the life span of the portal was not doing good, so they stayed calm because their Trained to do that I guess. The effects of the dimension would not starve them. So they went into the distance and found some stairs. They just decided to fight on them, the gravity is confuseing in the Dimension sooo now your stuck...Forever? They started to build a Town, but how? In this Dimension when Particles and dust combine together it becomes a solid.
