ING 2 | Eksjö Garnison

Eksjö garrison is a garrison within the Swedish Armed Forces that has operated in various forms since 1906. The garrison is located in the northern part of Eksjö. Eksjö has a long military history dating back to the late 14th century, when Ränneslätt began to be used as a military meeting and training ground. Since the late 16th century, various units have been training outside the city. The regiments at Eksjö garrison have belonged to the infantry, engineer troops, cavalry and infantry. From 1920 to 1994, the garrison was divided into two barracks establishments, the hussar barracks and Sjöängen. The garrison is the third largest workplace in Eksjö municipality with approximately 500 employees.
