Between 1803 to 1808. As the threat of France begin to grow. The British started to fortify the islands fearing an invasion of the Crown Colonies of Guernsey and Jursey by the French. Lead by Admiral James Saumarez of the Royal Navy, HMS Crescent, HMS Druid and HMS Eurydice were positioned on Guernsey to stop any invasion of the French which was expected to arrive. These ships were the first line of defence and if they fail to deter any French invasion force. The islands could be invaded
