The Battle of the Oak took place on the same name, on the Itata River, on October 17, 1813, that is, in the middle of Old Chilean Patria and within the limits of the El Roble estate, which belonged to Clemente Lantaño; it faced the patriotic forces under the command of General José Miguel Carrera, composed of about 800 men and a realistic guerrilla under the command of Clemente Lantaño and Luis Urrejola with 1200 men.
