(LPRY) Olympia District

Lincoln & Pullman bought the dead Milwaukee Pacific Extension quietly, almost like they were rescuing something sacred. Crews moved in first light, carving new tangents across the plains and laying the foundations for a second main. By autumn, steel catenary towers marched westward, carrying 25 kV AC over territory that hadn’t heard a live wire in decades. The first test train — two bright L&P electrics and a string of hotshot freight — sliced through the Rockies faster than anything had since the 1970s. When it rolled into Seattle at dusk, the old heads watching from the platform knew the line wasn’t just rebuilt — it was reborn.
