Operating as light infantry, the regiment was used for scouting, skirmishing, and harassing enemy forces rather than fighting in tight formations. Armed with Baker rifles and trained for independent movement, the 95th made effective use of forests and rough terrain, providing accurate fire and disrupting enemy advances.
