Description (written by the developer; not a statement by this register)

Cluny Abbey was founded in 910 by Duke William of Aquitaine as an autonomous Benedictine monastery, subject only to the Pope. It became the center of the Cluniac Reform, which spread rigorous monastic discipline, a solemn liturgy, and a vast network of priories throughout Europe between the 10th and 12th centuries. The abbey church of Cluny III, begun in 1088, was the largest in Christendom until the reign of Saint Peter. Cluny's political and cultural influence declined from the 13th century onward due to internal crises, new religious movements, and wars. During the French Revolution, the abbey was confiscated and largely demolished; today, important archaeological and artistic remains remain. It has now been faithfully reproduced on Roblox by Monsignor Ascanio Colonna CSR, now Commendatory Abbot of Cluny. The Abbey Church today serves as the Mother Church of the Congregation of the Holy Rosary (roblox). Dedication of the Church and High Altar: October 25, 1095
