At 10:27 PM on June 18, 1992, Huggy Wuggy was captured on a security camera escaping Playtime Co. through an open door. 2 staff members saw this, hitting the emergency alarm button in response. Just 3 minutes after Huggy's departure, a retrieval team and multiple vehicles were ready to go after Huggy and track him down. At 10:38, the team attempted to surround Huggy at a railroad crossing. In response to this, he charged at one of the vehicles, shattering its windscreen and causing security members to shoot at him with tranquilizer darts. After being hit once in the leg, Huggy managed to flee into a nearby woods, so the team split up into small groups and went after him on foot, with the search radius soon reaching residential areas. Additionally, the security members' radios started failing due to them being outside of effective range.[1] During this time, Huggy devoured a deer,[2] which was caught on one employee's bodycam.
