The Moretti Mafia. #1003010609
Description
The origins of the organization go back to 1948, when Leopold and Samzy Moretti started a small group that was operating in a small number of neighborhoods. The group operated on very little infrastructure; it was built entirely on trust and informal coordination between a small number of people. In its early days, the organization was just a group of close friends who were more focused on surviving, protecting one another, and influence locally than they were on being a “formal” organization. Despite this, there was a tremendous amount of discipline within the group; so much so that it was not like any of the other street-level organizations during that era. By 1949, with growing memberships and influence, the group restructured itself into a more formalized criminal family, where a hierarchy, defined roles, and a chain of command existed. As a result of this change, the Moretti Group transitioned from a loosely organized street group to a structured, Mafia-like organization.
