Description
Magna Bulgaria, otherwise known as 'Old Great Bulgaria' is one of the longest running empires in the world, founded somewhere during the 7th century. It was a nomadic kingdom first formed by the Bulgars and their leader, Khan Kubat. The state eventually adopted Orthodoxy in the 8th century due to the strong cultural influence Byzantine culture had on the nation, and became a major European power in the 9th and 10th century. Bulgaria had achieved many victories over other cultures, such as the Pechenegs, Kumans and Magyars. In the 11th century, Bulgaria was the dominant power in the Balkans, defeating the Byzantines and Latin Empire. The state was weakened after constant Mongol invasion, and subsequent Ottoman Conquest in the 13th and 14th centuries.
